UPI to Host Newsmaker Forum on Water-Related Illnesses
Washington, DC (PRWEB) September 21, 2009 -- Oyster Adams Bi-Lingual Elementary School Agua = Paz club members will join the panel for Our Water, a multimedia newsmaker event focused on preventable water-related illnesses hosted by United Press International, September 23, 2009 from 11am-2pm on the first floor of the Verizon Bldg, 1133 19th St. NW, Washington, DC.
The Our Water panel will include people and organizations actively working to solve problems arising from the lack of clean drinking water. Nearly 1 billion people around the world do not have regular access to clean drinking water. The United Nations and other groups regard the problem as a developmental and humanitarian crisis.
The Agua = Paz (water = peace) club is a partnership between a local chapter of H2O for Life and USELESS. H2O for Life matches North American schools to support schools in need of drinking water and sanitation. USELESS (Use Less Give More) is a social venture and movement designed to help people reduce consumption. USELESS gives 10% of its profits to fund water and sanitation projects overseas.
